Hello everyone.

Julie is often asked how to go about getting treatment for hyperhidrosis on the NHS. She has a good database on all hospitals providing a service for people who suffer from hyperhidrosis, so please email her if you need to know where to go. It is possible that your GP will not know of services in your area, so please ask.

We recommended you checked out a new mobile Botox service in our last newsletter. Sadly one of our members has had a bad experience with this company, so we will not be recommending their services again. Julie

Mosquito Repellent Fabric Conditioner

Hilary Furber - Monday, August 08, 2011
The world’s first natural insect repellent fabric conditioner.

If you suffer from hyperhidrosis, you will inevitably suffer from attracting nasty insects. Mogo have recently launched a new product which is now available in Tesco supermarkets. I have tried it and like it, and it smells good too. MOGO INSECT REPELLENT FABRIC CONDITIONER

Changing Faces Survey

Hilary Furber - Monday, August 08, 2011

Changing faces are an excellent organisation helping people with disfigurements and embarassing conditions. If you can help then by completing their short survey, that would be great thank you.
Julie

Dear All

I am writing to ask if you might be able to help promote some research we are conducting at Changing Faces.
We are keen to understand better the needs of patients with disfiguring conditions and whether they are able to access the help and support they need. We have designed three surveys which can be responded to online using survey monkey in which we will be endeavouring to find out about the current services that are available to provide psychological and social support for people who are living with a condition, injury or marking that affects their appearance:

  • We are asking adults age 16 and over who live in the UK about their recent experience of support services, what has helped in the past and recommendations they have for the future.
  • We are asking people who care for a child about provision of support for their child, and/or other members of their family.
  • We are asking health professionals about their patients' needs and the services available to them. We would also value their opinion on what additional service or support would be useful to particularly what they think our Changing Faces Practitioner development.
    • We are interested in both people who have used Changing Faces services before, and those who have not.
The surveys are available through our website.
    • It would be great if you might be able to disseminate this to your stakeholders. We are keen to consult with as many people as possible.
    • Many thanks for your time.
    • Best wishes

New website launched

Hilary Furber - Wednesday, May 11, 2011
As the months of research, planning, creativity and good old-fashioned hard graft come to fruition, and the new improved website for the UK Hyperhidrosis Support Group is soon to go live (whoopeee!), I’d like to say a big thank you to all who have played a part.

Firstly the British Association of Dermatologists, without whose support the project would not have been possible.

Julie Halford, for her untiring work to raise awareness of hyperhidrosis among medical professionals and sufferers alike, and her willingness to share her in-depth expertise.

Jenna Hedges, who took responsibility for writing some of the content, and did it superbly.

Everyone at Wysi, for patiently answering endless questions and building us a great website. Thank you, and I wish I could promise we’ll be easier to deal with from here on!

George, for turning up and taking on supper and dog walking duties during the months my evenings have been spent hunched over the computer.

And finally me, for donning crampons and climbing a very steep learning curve, and for putting in hours way above and beyond, as they say.

Like a second rate cabaret act, I’ll end by saying “If you like what we’ve done, ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands ……. in your pockets” and support us:
